Annual physical, adult

An annual physical exam in otherwise healthy individuals is recommended by all primary care physicians (PCP). This visit can be of benefit for identifying diseases you don't know you have or might be developing. They also give you an opportunity to find ways to ward off diseases you might be prone to because of heredity or lifestyle factors. It is also an opportunity to get screened for disorders based on your age and gender. Your PCP will conduct a general physical examination and ask about your medical history, background, medications you take, and lifestyle. You might be offered some screening laboratory tests or other types of testing, such as a stress ECG or colonoscopy to detect early disease.
