In vitro fertilization consultation

In vitro fertilization (IVF) consultation involves assessing a couple for their ability to conceive using in vitro fertilization. The couple is counseled on the procedure with evaluations to include an ultrasound of the uterus, sperm analysis, and hormonal studies to prepare for the procedure. IVF itself involves preparing the woman's uterus with specific hormones and then obtaining eggs from the ovaries at the proper time. The sperm is also collected before the eggs and sperm are combined in a laboratory. Those eggs that are fertilized and become embryos are implanted in the woman to potentially lead to pregnancy.
