Sleep study with CPAP therapy

The CPAP titration study is performed in patients with obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) where a continuous positive airway pressure (CPAP) device is indicated to open the breathing passages while sleeping. The CPAP titration study is very similar to the polysomnography (sleep study) but involves having a technician place the CPAP device on your nose or mouth to check its effectiveness while you sleep. This is a very important test before starting to use the device. It is important that the CPAP mask adequately fits your face and that the machine is set to the right pressure to help you breathe at night before you get a prescription to use one at home.
