Spirometry

Spirometry is the gold standard test for the diagnosis and assessment of many lung conditions. It helps to tell the difference between pulmonary diseases like asthma, COPD, emphysema, and occupational lung diseases. Spirometry measures the air volume that you can inhale and exhale as well as how fast you can take the air in and out, giving an idea of how well your lungs function. This is an outpatient diagnostic test that will take just a few minutes to perform and get your results back. You will be guided by trained staff on specific breathing patterns. It is recommended that you avoid smoking, aerobic exercise, and heavy meals the day before the test.
