Trigger point injections, in-office

Trigger point injections (TPI) help with the relief of muscular pain caused by tight or inflamed muscles. A trigger point is an irritable nodule formed in skeletal muscles as a result of injury, trauma, or stress. TP formation has also been associated with inadequate levels of certain vitamins and minerals. TPI consists of the insertion of small needles into painful trigger points and injecting some sort of anesthetic or corticosteroid substance. You can expect pain relief for around 1 month after this procedure; it can be performed as an outpatient in a pain management doctor's office.
