Myomectomy

Myomectomy refers to the removal of uterine myomas, more commonly known as benign uterine fibroids. This procedure can be performed using laparoscopy, which means that the surgeon makes a small incision in the lower abdomen and inserts slim instruments and a mini-camera to see the fibroids. This procedure is performed under general anesthesia and often requires overnight hospitalization. Internal fibroids (inside the uterine cavity) can also be done via hysteroscopy by introducing surgical devices through the vagina.
