An ultrasound (US) or sonography uses high-frequency ultrasonic waves to look inside the body. A pyloric stenosis ultrasound is performed in the office by the placement of a probe over the upper abdominal region. Your doctor will be able to view and interpret the images while the test is being performed. Pyloric stenosis consists of the narrowing of the gastric outlet into the duodenum. It is often seen in young children and is suspected in infants with recurrent vomits after feeding, weight problems, or persistent hunger.
